Why is Brushing Your Teeth Important?

Did you know the mouth houses over 6 billion bacteria, including over 700 different species? This bacteria is made up of both good and bad bacteria, but it is critical for us to help lower the amount of bad bacteria in our mouth. Brushing is a great way to do this; it is essential for oral hygiene and benefits your overall health.

When we brush our teeth, we help eliminate leftover food and plaque. If plaque is left on our teeth, it can lead to a number of issues such as cavities, tooth decay, gingivitis and periodontitis.

Recommended Brushing Tips:

– 2x per day (morning and night)

– A minimum of 2 minutes each time, just sing “Happy Birthday” twice!

– Use a toothpaste with fluoride

– Don’t forget your tongue!

– Gently brush all the way to your gum line

In addition to these brushing tips, we also advise coming in for a proper teeth cleaning every six months.
